Mondays Are Not the Enemy—They’re the Launchpad

Rosemary Martin • April 9, 2025

It's time to reframe your week and it starts with the way you're looking at Monday.

Growing as a professional, one of the first things you learn is that Friday is THAT GIRL! Your check hits, your weekend plans are set, and everything feels lighter. But before you know it, Sunday evening rolls around, and that creeping feeling hits: Monday is coming...

It always seems to arrive with rain, traffic, and an inbox full of “urgent” emails sent at 5:12 PM on Friday (even though it took them two weeks to reply to your last message 🙃).

If I'm being honest, I used to dread Mondays. I hated them with a passion.

But something shifted when I was living in Hawaii and doing ministry work. Every Monday morning began with intention—an hour of praise and worship, focused on something bigger than myself. It gave me peace, clarity, and alignment before the week even started.

When I returned to the corporate world, I brought that same energy with me. That mindset shift didn’t just change how I approached my Mondays—it changed how I worked every day. Now I look forward to Mondays because they represent a fresh start, a new opportunity to grow, serve, and move in purpose.

So here’s your Monday reframe:

  • What if this day was about opportunity, not obligation?
  • What if Monday was the day you gave yourself permission to breathe, reset, and realign?

Whether you're a person of faith or not, I hope this space helps you approach the week with more intention and less dread.

Let’s rewire the way we think about Mondays together!!

Start by creating a Monday Ritual. Here's what I like to do:

On Mondays, I give myself a 2 hour time block on my calendar to get myself organized for the week. During this time, I create daily time blocks for keeping up with my emails: to catch up on things, provide status updates, and follow up on items that I'm managing and need to hear from others on. I tend to use this time to catch up on reports and any major project that needs a good amount of focus. When I don't have a lot of things to catch up on, I usually listen to an empowering podcast or YouTube video to help set the intention for the week. Regardless of what you decide to do for your Monday Ritual, I hope it helps you start to think differently about Mondays.
